We are lucky to live in an area that hosts some really great summer music festivals, and now is the time to book.  Here’s my round up of local (and not so local) festival destinations to go to this summer for some great music in the sun (hopefully!).

Rock The Moor (Berks) Some of the headliners this year are Level 42, Rick Astley and Hot Chocolate. Rock The Moor is riverside, family-friendly and runs all day into evening  – it’s a great day with all the usual good facilities.

Penn Festival (Bucks) If you love Happy Mondays, Razorlight or the Stereo MCs then this years Saturday line up at Penn is the one for you. Penn has a lovely family vibe, it’s over 2 days – Saturday and Sunday, with great facilities and ambience.

Kew The Music (Richmond) have a great music line up every summer – this years line up includes Paloma Faith, Jools Holland and The Specials over 5 days, in the magical and relaxed atmosphere of Kew Gardens, more of a grown up night.

Rewind Henley- this celebration of music from the 80s gets bigger every year. You can get the one day entry or camp for the weekend – here’s just some of the line up – Human League, Soul II Soul, Bananarama, Billy Ocean and The Selecter.

Henley Festival has hosted diverse and legendary acts such as Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach and Madness.  It runs for a week and this year features amongst others; Spandau Ballet, Jessie J, The Gypsy Kings, and Lional Richie. The year that Suggs got up on stage to gatecrash Stings serious, lute playing solo has gone down in legend.

Trying to keep them under-Kover! Kim Kardashian grapples with her cleavage-baring dress as she shops with Kanye 5

Then there’s Glasto.  The Glastonbury headliner causing controversy this year is Kanye West, I love the way the Eavis family mix it up. I can just see Kim queueing in her pimped up wellies and figure hugging body suit to use the stinky porta loo!  Not sure that white suit is a good idea either Kanye…

The Isle of Wight festival in June has some great headliners this year – Pharrell Williams, Fleetwood Mac, Groove Armada, and Suzanne Vega are just a few. The web site front page is a pleasure to look at too, check it out here – IOW .

At the Green Man festival (Brecon Beacons in Wales) this years acts are quite diverse – from Super Furry Animals to Hot Chip.

No, not that hot chip.  See the website for details The Green Man .
