Why read blogs? Before I answer that here’s a quote F Scott Fitzgerlad wrote for his daughter, Frances.
Meeting ‘people with a ‘different point of view’, communicating with them and getting together to share views is one of the reasons I want to write a blog, but why read blogs?
Do you have friends you can talk to about everything and who are available 24/7? Friends to answer questions as diverse as; how much should I give my child to live on at uni? What colour shall I repaint my bedroom? Or even, what shall I buy this spring to pep up my summer wardrobe? If you do, count yourself lucky. If you don’t here’s what you can do – read good blogs.
I have been reading blogs for years, so I thought I would share with you the ones I read regularly.
Lifestyle and fashion blogs
The Women’s Room is my favourite blog. Amanda and Jane are both from the fashion world, their blog is written under the heading ‘daily life and inspiration’. If I had to describe it in a few words I would say, keeping it real and always inspiring – so their heading is bang on http://www.thewomensroomblog.com
That’s Not My Age. Alyson is a fashion writer who believes you don’t have to have youth to have style. Her recently published book, Style Forever sold out in a couple of weeks, she’s that good. http://thatsnotmyage.blogspot.co.uk
A Cup of Jo. Jo is a magazine-writer-turned-blogger who lives in New York with her husband and two boys. Cup of Jo is a good mix of parenting, fashion and lifestyle. http://joannagoddard.blogspot.co.uk
Apartment Therapy. This is a fast moving and eclectic site, it has some great ideas and inspiration, it features lots of peoples homes, so great if like me you like seeing what other peoples interiors look like. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com
Pentreath & Hall. A recently discovered gem, written by Ben Pentreath. A beautiful, personal blog with atmospheric photography http://www.pentreath-hall.com/inspiration/
Decor8. This blog encapsulates all things for those serious about their home interiors – materials, inspiration – the lot. http://decor8blog.com
Wild Acre. Based on Belinda’s own home and business I really like the way Belinda photographs nature, she also makes lovely jewellery http://wildacreflowers.blogspot.co.uk
Justine Gordon. Justine lives in Australia and is a great photographer of the landscape – it’s so nice to tune in to another season (especially in Jan/Feb when everything here is so grey) http://justinegordon.blogspot.co.uk
Vintage Reads. Written by Nicola, a mother of teenagers and a book lover with great taste http://vintagereads.blogspot.co.uk
Rachel is a well travelled bibliophile, she writes lovely reviews of her books and travels https://bookssnob.wordpress.com
These are my favourites, but maybe you have some that I don’t know about? If so, please share! S
