Sarah and Melissa are neighbours and friends (yes, imagine neighbours that are friends?!) living in a small town on the River Thames. Both are a mother of two with their eldest about to go off to University – a new life stage for both mother and child. It’s a time of departures and arrivals. The heavyhearted departure of a child off to the next exciting stage of their life but also an arrival. The arrival of more time for yourself and all the great things you can do, that you haven’t been able to do for ages, because you were too busy being a MOTHER. This blog is all about that next exciting phase.
Melissa lives with her husband and two sons. She works in marketing on a freelance basis including contracts for BSkyB Ltd, BMW Group, United Business Media and EMAP plc. “I like to cook, I adore films and going to the movies. Music never fails to lift my spirits. I love my friends and family. I wish I could let my hair go grey but I just can’t. Favourite quote comes from Dr Suess because it perfectly fits my personality – Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter, don’t mind.”
Sarah lives with her husband, teenage daughter and son. She works from home with her husband in the financial sector. Usually listening to Radio 4, and always with a cup of tea. “I’m a time miser these days – only spending it on what’s important – family, friends, walking, photography, film, books and comedy. I collect quotes. My favourite is: “Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh” W. H. Auden.”
